The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Scholarship 2026-2027 is a fully funded scholarship for international students. These scholarships are available for master’s and PhD. These scholarships will provide a monthly stipend of €992 for master’s and € 1,400 for PhD and cover tuition fees and accommodation.
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung awards scholarships to international master’s students and graduates in order to enable study and research at universities in Germany. This way, we actively promote intercultural dialogues and the formation of international networks, as well as the internationalization of universities and science.

Scholarship Coverage
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung scholarship will cover the following:
- For bachelor’s, master’s, or postgraduate programs, recipients can receive up to €992 per month in scholarship funding. The standard duration of support is two years.
- For doctoral candidates, the scholarship provides up to €1,400 per month. Applicants must be fully admitted to a doctoral program at a German university. The standard funding duration for doctoral studies is three years.
Additional allowances are available upon request. These include a health insurance subsidy of up to €120 per month, a family allowance of €276 if your spouse resides in Germany for more than three months, and a child allowance of €250 per child with proper documentation. Scholars may also apply for research travel grants abroad (excluding conference visits), as well as a partial reimbursement of university tuition fees—up to €750 per semester in exceptional cases.

How to Apply for the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Scholarship?

There are two ways to apply for our scholarship program:
1) Application via KAS offices abroad: If you are living in your home country or region, you can apply through your local KAS office. Click here for an up-to-date list.
2) If you already live in Germany, you may apply via the domestic selection process. Please submit your application through the KAS Campus Portal.
Attach the following documents:
- Attach a meaningful CV in tabular form, including details about your previous voluntary work or social commitment.
- Motivation letter.
- Copies of your examination certificates in German translation if the originals are not in English.
- Copies of your study performance records if you have been studying at a university in Germany.
- Proof of German language skills (B2).
- An informal academic letter of recommendation: This letter should provide information about your academic qualifications and potential; it should not be older than two months. The author has to be a university professor or teacher holding a doctoral degree.
- An informal letter of recommendation concerning the applicant’s personality: This letter should focus on your personality and interests as well as on your understanding of values and your social commitment. The author cannot be the same as the one providing the academic letter of recommendation.
- Certificate of admission or matriculation from your university in Germany.
If you are applying for a PhD scholarship, please add the following documents:
- A detailed description of your doctoral thesis: This exposé should be written in German or English (5-10 pages; font size 12; 1.5 line spacing) and should outline the central research question of your proposed project, its scientific relevance, your theoretical approach, and the motives behind your choice of the research subject. It should also contain a work schedule and a bibliography.
- A second academic letter of recommendation: This second letter should be written by the supervisor of your doctoral thesis, provided that you already have one. It replaces the letter of recommendation concerning the applicant’s personality.
- A confirmation of supervision by your doctor-father or mother
