Application Deadline
For the 2026/2027 academic year, students had to apply for Swedish master’s programs through University Admissions from 16 October 2026 to 15 January 2027.
The SI Scholarship application portal was open from 9 February 2027 to 25 February 2027 and closed at 14:59 CET on the final day.

Scholarship Coverage
The Swedish Institute Scholarship for Global Professionals provides the following benefits:
- Full tuition fee coverage paid directly to the Swedish university.
- Monthly living allowance of SEK 12,000 during the scholarship period.
- Travel grant of SEK 15,000 as a one-time payment.
- Travel grant of SEK 10,000 for scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.
- Membership in the SI Network for Global Professionals during the scholarship period.
- Membership in the Sweden Alumni Network after the scholarship period ends.
The scholarship does not cover the university admissions application fee, additional grants for family members, insurance, or changes to the awarded study program.
Eligibility Criteria for the Swedish Institute Scholarship
To qualify for the Swedish Institute Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a citizen of one of the eligible countries.
- Apply for an eligible full-time master’s program in Sweden.
- Be liable to pay tuition fees at Swedish universities.
- Follow the University Admissions process and be admitted or conditionally admitted to an eligible master’s program.
- Have demonstrated work experience.
- Have demonstrated leadership experience from employment or civil society engagement.
- Complete the SI scholarship application in English.

Applicants from Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Zambia must have at least 3,000 hours of work experience before February 2026.
Applicants from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine must provide proof of work experience, but there is no fixed minimum number of hours.

The scholarship supports eligible English-taught master’s programs in Sweden. Fields include areas such as:

Eligible Master’s Programs for SI Scholarship 2026/2027
Required Documents
Applicants need to submit the following documents for the SI Scholarship application:

One of the reference letters must be based on work experience. The second letter may be based on work experience, entrepreneurship, civil society work, or other relevant engagement.

How to Apply for the Swedish Institute Scholarship?
Please follow the steps below to apply for the Swedish Institute Scholarship:
(1) Apply for an eligible master’s program in Sweden through University Admissions. Students can apply for up to four master’s programs. After submitting the university application, applicants receive an eight-digit application number, which is needed for the SI scholarship application.
(2) Check that your selected master’s programs are included in the eligible master’s programs list. Applicants should also make sure they are liable to pay tuition fees, because only tuition fee-paying students can receive this scholarship.
(3) Prepare the required SI scholarship documents, including your CV, proof of work and leadership experience, two reference letters, passport or national ID copy, and motivation statement. (4) Submit your scholarship application through the SI application portal during the scholarship application period. You should submit only one SI scholarship application, even if you applied for more than one master’s program through University Admissions.
