Peking University Scholarship Application Deadline

Scholarship Coverage
1. Chinese Government Scholarship
The Full CGS covers tuition fees, free university dormitory or accommodation subsidy, and provides a stipend and medical insurance. The Partial CGS includes one or some items from the Full CGS coverage.
2. Peking University Scholarship (PKUS)
Peking University Scholarship for International Students: includes a full/partial tuition waiver, monthly living expenses, and medical insurance.
3. Beijing Government Scholarship
Beijing Government Scholarship for International Students:
Type A includes tuition waiver, free accommodation, medical insurance, and monthly living expenses provided in accordance with the regulations.

Eligibility Criteria for the Peking University Scholarship
To be eligible for the Peking University Scholarship, you must fulfill the following criteria:
- Eligible Countries: All countries in the world except China
- Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport. Residents of the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan who have emigrated to another country and are applying to Peking University as international students must present valid passport or citizenship documents dating from before April 30, 2020, along with proof of cancellation of Chinese nationality.
- Applicants should be healthy, both physically and psychologically, with no criminal record, and must abide by the laws and decrees of China and the regulations of Peking University.
- Applicants for master’s degree programs must have attained a bachelor’s degree or higher from a university/college accredited by the Ministry of Education of China. The special requirements for certain programs, such as MBA, EMBA, IMPA, etc., should be in accordance with the relevant regulations on nationwide master/doctoral admissions.
- Applicants for doctoral programs must have attained a master’s degree or higher from an institution accredited by the Ministry of Education of China. Applicants with bachelor’s degrees may apply for admission to doctoral programs in subjects of sciences and engineering.
- The applicant’s academic performance, academic level and language ability should meet the admission requirements of the major he/she is applying for.
How to Apply for the Peking University Scholarship?
Please follow the application instructions below to apply for this scholarship:
Step 1: Pre-admission
- Complete the Peking University online scholarship application.
- Log onto Peking University International Student Service System, select Home – Scholarship Application – Application for Prospective Students, fill in information, upload your official transcripts of past educational experiences and other supporting documents, and submit the application.
Step 2: Complete the system application of the CSC
- Complete the application for the China Scholarship Council
- Log onto the China Scholarship Council system, complete and submit, and save the completed form for a later step.
Note:
(1) The institution code of Peking University is 10001, and the type of application program is Type B.
(2) For application materials, please see the List of Application Materials for Chinese Government Scholarship. Item 6 of the materials (Certificate for CSC Advanced Graduate Program Application) can be downloaded from the Application Status of the Peking University International Student Service System since February 25. If items 11 and 12 are not applicable, please submit as attachment the Foreigner Physical Examination Statement and No Criminal Record Self-Declaration (personal signature required).
(3) The China Scholarship Council system allows only one major; hence if an applicant is applying for multiple majors in the PKU system, please be certain about the selected major in the CSC system for it is based on this selected major that the scholarship award will be evaluated.

- Log onto Peking University International Student Service System, select Home – Scholarship Application – Application for Prospective Students, fill in information, upload your official transcripts of past educational experiences and other supporting documents, and submit the application.
Required Documents for Peking University Scholarship
- Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (in Chinese or English);
- Copy of Passport Home Page. If the validity of the applicant’s current passport does
not meet the requirement (meaning the passport expires before September 2026),
please apply for a new passport before submitting the application. - Notarized highest diploma. Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof
of student status from their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese
or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations. - Academic transcripts (from the undergraduate program onwards). Copies of academic
records from the first to the last semester during the undergraduate, graduate (if any), and
doctoral programs (if any) shall be provided. These transcripts shall be issued and
sealed by the attending university’s academic affairs office, graduate school, or
student management department. They can be in Chinese or English, but must be
attached with notarized English translations if they are in foreign languages other than
English. - Language qualification certificates. Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must submit valid HSK reports in accordance with the corresponding Chinese proficiency requirements. Applicants for other language-taught programs shall provide relevant
language proficiency certificates according to the university’s requirements, like
IELTS or TOFEL report. - Pre-admission documents.
(1) Pre-admission documents issued by the Chinese university of preference,
including an official admission letter, a pre-admission letter, or an invitation letter from a prospective supervisor recognized by the Department of International Student Admission at Chinese universities. The pre-admission letter or official invitation letter shall be printed on the special-purpose letter of the desired Chinese university and issued and sealed by the university’s international students admission office.
(2) The enrollment letter or invitation letter shall contain the following information (in Chinese or English):- Applicant information: full name, nationality, date of birth, name of the university last attended, and others.
- Academic status in China: graduate student or doctoral student.
- Projected time of staying in China. The study timeline shall be made clear, and the time of enrollment shall be no earlier than September 2027.
- Information of the applicant’s Chinese supervisor (if any).
- Descriptions of the applicant’s studies or research in China.
- Language taught in courses (Chinese or English).
- The supervisor-issued invitation letter shall be sealed by the department of international students admission and accompanied by the signature and contact information of the head of the department.
- A study plan proposal. A study plan written in Chinese or English shall contain more than 1,000 characters or words; the proposal of a doctoral student shall be signed by the applicant’s Chinese supervisor.
- Recommendation letters. Two letters of recommendation (written only in Chinese or
English) from professors or associate professors shall be submitted. These letters shall describe the applicant’s objectives of learning in China, comprehensive abilities, and
evaluation of future growth, as well as the cooperation between the supervisors or the
exchange between universities both in China and abroad. - Example of art. To apply for majors related to art or design, applicants could submit
their own works through “Example of Art/Other Supporting Documents” in the
system. Applicants could also provide such materials to the applied universities
directly in other ways. - Applicants under the age of 18 should submit the valid documents of their legal guardians in China.
- A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the
original copy shall be kept by the applicant). The form is designed by the Chinese
quarantine authority and can be obtained from the dispatching authority. The physical
examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination
Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician,
the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid.
Please select the appropriate time to take a physical examination, as the result is valid
for only 6 months. - Non-criminal record report. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.
