Architecture Centenary Award 2021-2022 is a partially funded scholarship for international students. These scholarships are available for masters level study in a professional Architecture programme. The scholarship covers $2000 of the tuition fees.
The main purpose of the Award is to assist a Masters level student in a professional Architecture program who is undertaking thesis research that investigates innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to architecture and urban design within a New Zealand landscape of rapidly evolving social diversity.
The Award was established in 2018 and is funded by alumni of the School of Architecture and Planning to recognize the centenary of the establishment of the School.

Architecture Centenary Award will provide the recipient with the following benefits:
- The scholarship covers $2000 of the tuition fees.
- The payment will be made in one lump sum in the third week of the first semester of enrollment in the thesis year.
Eligibility Criteria for Architecture Centenary Award
To qualify for Architecture Centenary Award, candidate must fulfill all of the following requirements below:
- Required Language: English.
- Eligible Countries: All world countries.
- The Architecture Centenary Award is for international and domestic students enrolled in a masters-level professional Architecture program.
- The Award will be made to a student who has paid the fees, or arranged to pay the fees for full-time study in the thesis year of a degree of the MArch(Prof); MArch(Prof)HerCons; MArch(Prof)UrbDes or MArch(Prof)UrbPlan(Prof), and the quality and nature of the proposed research.
- Successful candidates will have a minimum GPA of 7.00 (6.50 for Māori and Pacific candidates).
- The Architecture Centenary Award may be held with any other scholarship, award, or grant where the regulations for that scholarship, award, or grant permit and where the University of Auckland Council so approves.
- A mid-year start thesis student will need to submit their thesis proposal to the Thesis Coordinator in November of the preceding year to be considered for the Award.
- The coursework component for students in the MArch(Prof), MArch(Prof)HerCons or MArch(Prof)UrbDes will be assessed over the first year of their degree. The coursework component for students in the MArch(Prof)UrbPlan(Prof) will be assessed over the second year of their degree.

(2) You should submit the following documents:
- An undergraduate degree in architecture with a required GPE of 4.0
- A proof of the English language proficiency (IELTS Academic test 6.5 overall score, with no band less than 6.0, or the available alternatives)
- A written statement of one page should outline your reasons for wanting to participate in the program.
- A portfolio that conveys your design ability and sensibility, your creativity, and your skill with a range of architectural media. It must consist of between 12 and 15 pages of your own drawings and/or other creative works. Submit your portfolio via the portfolio submission system.
- You can choose any page size up to a maximum of A3 to present your work.
- You may display one or multiple images on each page.
- Each PDF file submitted must not exceed one page in length.
- Each digital experiment counts as one page.
- A CV that should include descriptions and examples of relevant work experience or any other activities considered relevant to the application. Details of any academic and/or professional design awards/prizes should also be included.
(3) You do not need to apply for this scholarship or complete an online application form. It is awarded on the recommendation of the relevant faculty or University of Auckland committee.
- The basis of selection will be academic merit as assessed by grade point average (GPA) in the coursework component in the year before the thesis year of the MArch(Prof); MArch(Prof)HerCons; MArch(Prof)UrbDes or
MArch(Prof)UrbPlan(Prof), and the quality and nature of the proposed research.
